RESHETNEV specialists have finished testing the break-through automated visual inspection technology
Optical inspection is a key technology used for the assessment of soldered joints quality, refining the RF equipment components layout, and various other tasks.
“The Instrument and PCB fabrication shop performed comprehensive test runs of the technology in over a year’s time. We prepared the concept for automated optical inspection application, as well as a defect detection policy for manual and group surface mounting, followed by trial runs of the technology, – says Nikolay Lukonin, head of the Integrated Technological Department’s Instrument Production Technologies Bureau. – Computer vision will automatically detected any discrepancies, thus minimizing human error in related operations”.
The equipment utilizes several video cameras set up at different angles. The digital data obtained is analyzed by image processing algorithms. The produced unit is then compared to its digital reference stored in the computer’s memory, and if any discrepancies are detected, the system signals of an error.
The optical inspection system is instrumental in increasing the quality of RF equipment modules. The company plans to use it extensively in the manufacturing of equipment for satellites of various class and application.
In our recent materials, we covered a similar technology used for PCB quality control, also developed by RESHETNEV company.
