Power conditioning units for future satellites underway at RESHETNEV (part of ROSCOSMOS State Corporation)
Acceptance test for the satellite power conditioning unit has been successfully completed.
The PCU is based on standardized modules. What sets it apart from similar units is a digital automated control system. The standardized modules are software tuned, which allows the 2.6 to 20.8 kW PCU units to be promptly developed and tested out.
The new device differs from the Company’s previous developments by its increased efficiency factor, and improved mass and dimension parameters. The majority of complex operations converting solar power into electricity for the satellite’s power bus are executed by software algorithms instead of hardware, which facilitates PCU mass reduction.
PCU heat sink was also reduced by implementing advanced transistor control algorithms, which in turn leads to reduced stress on the spacecraft thermal control system.
