The software calculates the power conditioning equipment performances

Next generation satellite power conditioning equipment

Cutting-edge, modular design based power conditioning technology implemented at Reshetnev

A power conditioning unit test model equipped with an automated digital control system was developed and built at Reshetnev. The technology allows for varying the number of standard modules within the device and digitally setting the automated control system parameters, thus serving as a base for an array of power supply devices operating in the range from 2.6 to 20.8 kW.

A new workstation featuring a hardware-software suite was created specifically for the task. The software calculates the optimal device performances while the hardware tests them in conditions emulating the nominal PCU operation during illuminated arcs and eclipses, and under the impact of dynamic current loads.

The unique technology used for the development of the automated digital control system is patented by Reshetnev and planned to be implemented in the manufacturing of power conditioning devices for satellites based on platforms with significantly varied power consumption levels.

The implementation of this new technology allows for a noticeable lead time reduction while also serving for further increase of satellite power supply systems’ reliability and efficiency.
