LOUTCH, the Multifunctional Data Relay Constellation built by RESHETNEV (part of ROSCOSMOS State Corporation), is successfully carrying out its mission
In 2025 LOUTCH constellation was tasked with monitoring and control of the Progress MS-30 cargo spacecraft and the Soyuz MS-27 manned spacecraft, and a year before the data relay satellites assisted two manned flights to the ISS and four cargo spacecraft launches.
The satellites provide real-time communication channels for space instruments in LEO and their ground control facilities. This enables information support for launch missions including manned space flight. The satellites in the LOUTCH constellation transmit the telemetry acquired from Soyuz MS manned transport spacecraft and Progress MS cargo spacecraft when they are out of the ground control’s direct line of sight. Moreover, LOUTCH data relay satellites provide a line of communication between the cosmonauts in the ISS Russian segment and the MCC.
The Multifunctional Data Relay Constellation also receives and transmits search and rescue signals to and from the COSPAS SARSAT emergency buoys, as well as data from the Russian meteorological service data gathering platforms.
