JSC Academician M. F. Reshetnev “Information Satellite Systems” (part of Roscosmos State Corporation) will create a space telescope for MILLIMETRON Space Observatory

MILLIMETRON Space Observatory is designed to study objects of deep space at millimeter and infrared wavelengths. It will help to answer fundamental issues about structure and evolution of the Universe.

The prime contractor of the project is JSC NPO Lavochkin (part of Roscosmos State Corporation). The prime contractor of an onboard scientific payload is Astro Space Center of The Lebedev Physical Institute (ASC LPI).

By ASC LPI order, JSC RESHETNEV is designing the most important component of the Observatory – space telescope. It will be based on the main mirror – transforming structure that will form reflecting surface with 10 meters diameter after in-orbit deployment.

Experts of the company are working toward precision accuracy of the reflector surface. In combination with a huge design dimensions it will provide required telescope sensitivity for signals reception from deep space objects.

The main mirror test prototype is under development in JSC RESHETNEV. It is dedicated for design development tests. These tests are intended for deployment system operation check of the reflector consisting of 24 sections.
