YAMAL-501 satellite undergoes strength test
RESHETNEV company headed over to a new stage of YAMAL-501 satellite production.
The leading ROSCOSMOS State Corporation enterprise has begun YAMAL-501 dynamic testing. An engineering qualification model (EQM) was produced to verify that the satellite’s structure meets all specified requirements.
The dynamic testing programme includes transportation, acoustic, and vibration tests. The YAMAL-501 EQM has already undergone transportation testing at the dedicated stand. The structural strength has been confirmed under the loads experienced during the satellite transportation via various modes—automobile, railway, and aviation.
At present moment EQM is being prepared for the rest of tests – acoustic and vibration which are going to simulate the conditions during the satellite launch.
The customer for the YAMAL-501 satellite, developed by the RESHETNEV company, is JSC Gazprom Space Systems. Once operational, YAMAL-501 will provide a comprehensive range of telecommunication services for the Russian Federation.
