RESHETNEV Company developing new instrument with in-house flexible printed cables for Loutch-5VM satellite
Within the Loutch-5VM project, RESHETNEV (a ROSCOSMOS company) has successfully developed and deployed a domestic flexible printed cable production technology. The cables will be at the core of all electrical connections for the onboard relay system’s control unit. The device is now under manufacture.
When compared to conventional connecting wires, printed cables demonstrate several key advantages: simplicity of manufacture, compactness, a flat form factor, and low weight. Implementing this new technology has allowed engineers to achieve optimal characteristics for the onboard equipment while reducing production time.
In the long term, RESHETNEV aims to integrate flexible printed cables across all satellite instruments currently in development. Simultaneously, the company is progressing the qualification of this new technology for application in human spaceflight projects.
