10 years in orbit

EXPRESS-AM6 satellite preparation for delivery to the cosmodrome

The 21st of October marks 10 years since launch of the EXPRESS-AM6 manufactured by RESHETNEV.

The RESHETNEV communication satellite was housed by the company’s heavy unpressurized platform EXPESS-2000. It was for the first time that a platform featured a new High Pressure Xenon Tank (HPXT). The new tank was lighter and more capacious compared to the previous one, which allowed prolonging the satellites operational life.

EXPRESS-AM6 was launched on 21 October 2014, injected into geostationary transfer orbit and transferred during the next four months into the final orbit with the help of its own xenon electric propulsion motors.

At present, EXPRESS-AM6 is operating as part of the RUSSIAN SATELLITE COMMUNICATIONS COMPANY constellation at 53° East. The satellite provides communications and broadcasting services in Russia, including high-speed Internet access, digital TV and radio broadcasting, fixed and mobile communication for government and video conferencing.
