Academician M. F. Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems (a ROSCOSMOS company) and Beeline mobile network operator have signed a cooperation agreement.
RESHETNEV and Beeline are set to launch a cooperative test facility where they will probe into potential ways to use satellites and other non-ground based tech to further the development of mobile networks as well as 4G-A and 5G-NTN data relay protocols, while developing and testing new service scenarios. The geographically sparsed out ground stations built by RESHETNEV for their satellite communication systems will be used for implementing a unified data exchange network for Beeline.
All this means augmented ground station capabilities for RESHETNEV’s on-the-horizon multifunctional systems, and new options for Beeline’s clients thanks to tapping into a satellite constellation.
Joining forces will help reduce the costs of communication pipeline routing and up-scaling, and help forward the development of Russia’s telecom infrastructure.
“RESHETNEV and Beeline are expanding their partnership and playing off each other’s strengths in cutting-edge communication services. We value the experience of Beeline's specialists in the application of modern mobile communication technologies, their knowledge of protocol stacks, and their commitment to advanced communications through the use of satellite network technologies. Our companies’ joint effort will allow for integrating top of the line mobile communication standards into satellite tech and providing quality services to Beeline users nationwide and beyond”, says RESHETNEV’s General Director Evgeny Nesterov.
“The collaboration with RESHETNEV is part of Beeline’s strategy for the development of satellite communications in Russia. Satellite technologies are, first and foremost, the most advanced solution for ensuring connectivity in remote locations such as rural areas, in the mountainous regions, and at sea. Secondly, without satellite-based communication, there would be no advancement in the IoT technologies, no unmanned driving, remote object control, and many other applications habitually associated with the future and already making their way into our daily lives. By joining our efforts and capabilities, and exchanging knowledge in the research and experimentation fields, we will be able to provide the nation with high-quality, cost-effective communication services wherever and however much they are needed”, adds Beeline General Director Sergey Anokhin.
