Effective technologies for mass production

Housing redesign allowed improving its manufacturing technology

RESHETNEV specialists tried out and adopted new solutions that allow speeding up manufacturing of mass-produced complex-shaped parts.

RESHETNEV automatics engineers have improved manufacturing processes for solar array drive mechanism (SADM) to be used in MARATHON system satellites.

SADM housing is a load-bearing structure that accommodates motor and other devices enabling solar arrays panels deployment in space. Such a mission entails housing design complexity and machining labor intensity.

Manufacturing process upgrade was a part of the MARATHON satellites flowline arrangement. Thanks to certain modifications to the housing design, RESHETNEV specialists found an optimum set of tools and cutting modes that reduced the estimated manufacturing time for the SADM housing from 24 to 13 hours.

The invented technical solutions served as a basis for improving the manufacturing processes of other MARATHON satellite components, optimizing manufacturing time and increasing producibility.
