EXPRESS-AM44, a communication satellite built by RESHETNEV Company, has reached 15 years of operation.
EXPRESS-AM44 is operating in the 11° W orbital slot. Well beyond its expected lifetime, the satellite is successfully delivering a wide spectrum of communication and broadcasting services to this day.
The EXPRESS-AM44 spacecraft was launched on February 11, 2009, and became an important part of Russia’s rapid advancement in the field of information technologies and communications.
It is based on a sealed platform that was significantly upgraded in the frame of EXPRESS-AM44 R&D. The new engineering ideas implemented in the project allowed to reduce the overall mass of the platform and related subsystems.
EXPRESS-AM44 is equipped with high power repeaters and steerable antennas, providing added flexibility to satellite operators. Overall, the satellite features 27 transponders utilizing frequencies in Ku-, C-, and L-band.
The satellite was designed for 10 years guaranteed lifetime.
