RESHETNEV (a ROSCOSMOS company) to implement new tech for building universal mechatronic modules for space applications
The mechatronic modules in question are a type of controlled rotation drives. They are intended to be used in large scale onboard deployment and pointing systems.
The development of new hardware was conceived by RESHETNEV with versatility in mind, and carried out by D. F. Ustinov VOENMEH Baltic State Technical University. The project is funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia per Decree No. 218 of the Government of the Russian Federation.
The universal mechatronic modules are made of domestic components. Their performances are on par with top of the line counterparts worldwide.
Implementing this new tech will reduce the lead time for antenna deployment and pointing systems used in all classes of satellites. This provides for boosting spacecraft building speed, and deploying serial production if need be.
The structural and technical know-how gleaned from this project will be used in future RESHETNEV satellites development.
