RESHETNEV company upgrades mechanical unit for use in future satellites
An upgraded mechanical unit (MU) was developed by RESHETNEV engineers. With its size and mass decreased by an average of 25% from the previous generation MU, all while maintaining the necessary angular displacement characteristics; the new unit will provide better accuracy of antenna Earth pointing for high orbit satellites.
The functioning of the lightweight MU was tested on breadboard and test models.
At the time of this writing, a follow-up test model is being built at a partner company. It will be delivered to RESHETNEV for qualification tests.
The new mechanical unit will be used in LOUTCH-5VM and EXPRESS-RV satellites.
