Satellite data relaying takes it up a notch

RESHETNEV company (a part of ROSCOMOS State Corporation) is upgrading multifunctional data relay satellite system LOUTCH.

RESHETNEV is in the process of manufacturing LOUTCH-5VM satellite in the framework of multifunctional data relay satellite system LOUTCH upgrade. The satellite is housed by a universal middle-class platform EXPRESS-1000K.

At present RESHETNEV is producing payload and service subsystems modules for the satellite. In-house developed onboard equipment as well as antennas are being manufactured as we speak. A part of onboard equipment is outsourced.

RESHETNEV is also upgrading multifunctional data relay satellite system LOUTCH ground infrastructure, including satellites control and data reception & transmission complexes.

The main mission of the satellite data relay system is to provide communication between low-flying satellites and rockets and ground control stations. The upgraded multifunctional data relay satellite system LOUTCH constellation, as compared to the current data relay satellites, will provide communication services at significantly higher altitudes - up to 20000 km (currently 2000 km).
