RESHETNEV company part of domestic hydrometeorology satellite project
RESHETNEV company is to provide solar arrays for the four new Arktika-M spacecraft. The SA structures, made of high-modulus composite materials, are currently being built at the enterprise’s premises. Once completed, they will be delivered to JSC SATURN contracted to fit the arrays with triple junction GaAs photocells, and then returned to RESHETNEV for final assembly and testing.
The Arktika-M series meteorology satellites are developed by Lavochkin Association. Operating in the high elliptic orbit, their mission is to provide the Hydrometeorological Centre with real-time climate and environment data in the Arctic region, as well as transmit search and rescue signals.
Meteorology satellites Arktika-M No.1 and No.2, also equipped with RESHETNEV-made solar arrays, are already in operation as part of Russia’s orbital fleet.
