RESHETNEV company is working on a project for creating a seamless operational space in partnership with Moscow Aviation (MAI) and OJSC Gazprom Space Systems.
RESHETNEV company (under ROSCOSMOS State Corporation umbrella) have introduced a proprietary satellite communications user terminal RS-30M for testing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) control systems. It provides for operation via satellite in geostationary orbit (about 36000 km above the Earth).
RS-30M is a compact device with antenna 30 cm in diameter. Its use allows to establish a wireless telecommunication channel with a moving vehicle. During an experiment conducted by MAI, a communication channel was established through the user terminal between the YAMAL-600 satellite by OJSC Gazprom Space Systems and an UAV. Tests have verified RS-30M suitable for UAV control. In the future, it is planned to improve the terminal for collaboration with other satellites and aircraft-type UAVs.
MAI is developing an UAV control technology as part of the Priority 2030 State Program for the support of Russian higher education institutions, in which RESHETNEV company acts as an industrial partner of the university. In addition, the new development meets the objectives of the Seamless Operating Environment project. It is purposed to ensure continuous data exchange between space, air and ground objects. As a result, this expands opportunities for the development of the transport network and monitoring in remote areas of the country.
