Laser welding in waveguide production

Welding check-up at RESHETNEV facilities

RESHETNEV experts developed and introduced flexible waveguide section manufacturing technique.

RESHETNEV engineers have recently introduced a new approach to production of flexible waveguide section. The flexible waveguide section are made of copper alloy using special molds acquired by pulse laser welding. Due to this method, high strength of the welded joint (not less than 90% of the base metal strength) and absence of weld defects are ensured. This is confirmed by metallographic studies and tensile tests.

The use of the new method provides the required geometrical parameters of waveguide channels, and, consequently, the accuracy of the transmitted signal. It also allows to significantly reduce the time and cost of product manufacturing. In this way, RESHETNEV have been able to reduce the production process of the flexible waveguide section workpieces from several-day cycles to three operations that take no longer than four hours in total.

At the same time, the performance of the products remains at the level of the best world analogues, which ensures competitive advantages of the waveguide produced by RESHETNEV.
