RESHETNEV masters technology for building deployable reflectors with membrane surface.
Manufacturing and testing is complete for samples of the 1.5 m and 12 m deployable reflectors. A domestically produced polymer composite material is used for reflector surface allowing for retaining optimum shape during deployment.
The membrane reflectors have undergone environment testing, including launch vibrations, vacuum and critical temperatures.
The engineers partnered with JSC Composite and Reshetnev Siberian State University of Science and Technology on this project.
Using membrane reflectors will result in a significantly lighter antenna structure, meaning more space for payload equipment accommodation onboard RESHETNEV satellites.
