Onboard equipment optimisation for the new telecommunications satellite

Onboard units for EXPRESS-AMU4 satellite are made from Russian components. RESHETNEV engineers’ development efforts made it possible to reduce power conditioning unit’s and certain onboard control subsystem units’ mass and size compared to original design.

This optimisation was achieved through usage of Russian-made components and more advanced software that will handle a part of functions formerly implemented by hardware of the electronic units.

First samples of the new equipment will undergo ground development tests. They are going to be subjected to mechanical, thermal, thermal vacuum tests, as well as electromagnetic compatibility tests. After that, flight models will be made for EXPRESS-AMU4 satellite.

This satellite is being built for renewal of the national telecommunications satellite fleet.
